Birthday Extravaganzaaa

Me and my very good dancer friend Lyrik once again do a joint bday celebration Thursday at Spice, followed by Zentra. What a fabulous party it was!!!! So many people came, and it was great to see a lot of my old friends and industry show love. Darryl Pandy bless his heart got up on the mic and sang his ass off, and I am so honored that he did that for me. I couldn't really sit down and relax, and by the time we got to Zentra I was starting to get a little overwhelmed at all the conversations I had to keep going.

There was of course an afterset at my house, with mostly a bunch of Latin "queens" from Lyrik's salsa company vogueing, screaming and snapping. So much better than having sketchy straight people at your house. Lots of couple drama, but I guess that's to be expected. Friday I rested, then Saturday we all met up at the Victor Hotel to hear Lego spin. Another afterset at the crib.

Sunday we rest, then Monday at Boom Boom Room. My bday weekend is over and I can now hang up my partying shoes. Sort of. I think I'm coming down with something (big surprise! Death perhaps??) And even though I had the time of my life, the nights always ended with some serious bullshit drama that left me drained and sad. I think what Andre Hatchett and a whole bunch of other people said to me may be true: no one close to me can handle what I do.

Last Night of Eclectic

Monday night we celebrate the last night of Lego's Monday residency. Heads came and showed love and we had mad fun. I became a mean drunk and started yelling at men that I knew couldn't say shit to me. I love egging people on. Am also busy promoting my birthday party at Spice this Thursday. I'm celebrating it with my very good dancer friend Lyrik who not only owns his own fierce salsa company, but knows the entire Puerto Rican population in Chicago. It's going to be one hell of a great party. Later we head to Green Dolphin, then I have some friends come over and kick it at my crib until 10 in the morning. Ouch.

Wednesday, my dog Luigi goes ballistic and gets into it with both my mutt Benny and a shih tzu called Winston. More violent dog fighting and we cannot stop them. So Luigi's right ear is practically ripped off and we rush him to the animal emergency clinic. Blood everywhere. We don't know what to do because it's shelter-adopted Benny that is being the doggy prick and causing trouble. I love him to death but all these fights are hurting Luigi and costing me an arm and a leg. We're going to have to call an animal behavior specialist and figure out what to do. From what we've been told, this is typical of pack animals figuring out their hierarchy and defending their territory, but that cannot justify body mangling. I wish my dogs would attack some of the people I see at the clubs instead of each other.

Update

Friday afternoon I check out what is sadly to be the last party at 31st Street beach for the year. We shoot Craig Loftis for the October issue right on the sand. This had to be one of the best parties, and I can't wait till they do it again. Later that night we go to hear Kerri Chandler at Zentra, followed by an afterhours.

Saturday I finish writing up the articles for the October issue, then later go to Cuatro and Lego's night at Darkroom. There was so much couple drama going on that night, with my friends bringing in their new dates to make their exes jealous. So while the exes claimed not to care, I could see the steam coming out of their ears. This happened to 3 of my friends that night. Thankfully and for the first time I was not in the center of the drama and was a passive observer. Later we head to Smart Bar and call it a night at an early 5am.

I am slowly becoming domesticated because my man is cooking all my meals for me. My best friend has always been the microwave, so seeing my stove, my sink and my refrigerator being put to use for eating is very new to me.

Sunday my 2 dogs get into a violent fight and while trying to break them up my thumb gets eaten. My nail rips out, blood keeps gushing and I'm in total pain. I'm trying to stay in more, but it's very hard. Very very hard. You just can't take the party out of the party girl.

Gospel House

Saturday/Sunday at 1am, I interview Ron Carroll at the gospel House show that I will soon co-host every month at WGBX. I once again put on my most pious persona and remember not to swear. Ron sings happy birthday to me in the most beautiful voice :) We then hit up a loft party, which had to be one of the most miserable nights I've had in a long time. Great music, too much drama.

Monday I return to African dance class with the instructor choosing bird calls in lieu of English. Later that night we go to hear Lego at Four, (fabulous music) then Green Dolphin had Timmy Regisford (famous resident DJ of New York's Shelter) playing a really good set. Some of the Chicago industry heads were a little critical, but I guess that's to be expected. The next day every muscle in my body is aching and I cannot move to save my life. These rain and fertility dances are no joke.

More Psycho Bitches

Wednesday night we go to the Dating Game and the Note. More psychobitch drama with underage chubby coked out he-she ex-girlfriends screaming and acting the fool...her getting kicked out by the bouncers and us having a good laugh. Thursday is Tini Martini, Spice and Zentra followed by 2 afterhours. Not a good night. Friday I interview Craig Loftis at the 31st Street Beach party and what a wonderful party it was. The beach is simply gorgeous and everyone is there with their families, their coolers and good vibes.

Of course from there the day went very sour, with me getting a parking ticket at the park. Then later downtown I get into my car a bicycle pig-cop gives me a ticket, so I get into my car I grab it from him and throw it out the window as I drive off. My man calls me on the phone as I do this, and next thing I know I have 3 bicycle pig-cops chasing after me. Oh Lord. Where are my donuts? So I get 3 (yes 3) MORE tickets: parking in front of a bus stop, littering and using a cell phone while driving. Truly the cherry on top of my day. In my foul mood I talked shit to the pigs, drove like a madwoman and slammed things around my house. I carried a fork around in case my culinary stabbing fantasies might get played out. After calming down, I did the unthinkable: I spent the 2nd Friday in a row IN my house (!) We made it a Blockbuster night. Shit let me enjoy my domesticity while the urge lasts...

Psycho Bitches

The Labor Day weekend was one filled with nonstop partying, resting, and dealing with crazy "women". Thursday we hung out at Spice, Zentra then an afterhours at my house. Friday was me laying out in my coffin. Saturday was the return of the 67th Street Loft party, and it was nothing short of fabulous.

Sunday was the big DJ Softball Tournament (great turnout), and I am so proud of David Sabat for all his hard work. Me and my man then went to his company's skateboarding show, and mad drama went down between him and his psycho he-she looking ex-girlfriend from the suburbs with her crying, yelling, hitting, stalking and damaging shit. I have never seen such psycho behavior in my life (apart from that big girl with the house around her neck.) And no matter how innocent I was, I was of course still attacked and called all sorts of names. Green "women" have been circling my orbit lately and I wish they'd just crash somewhere else.

I'm so glad me and my friends are above such deranged and unhinged behavior. Queens know better.
