Weekend Roundup
Friday I see my chiropractor again to get my spine adjusted, take a grueling capoeira class right after and promptly re-fuck it up, then go and do my club rounds. Zentra, despite its wonderful lineup (Alan King, George Jackson, Wayne Williams and Harrison Crump) was pretty dead. I think everyone was saving themselves for Saturday night. Industry people: please keep your drunken "business" convos to me at a minimal level, I'm really not trying to hear about your grand Ideas and Projects all night. Short and simple and an agreement to get in touch. Wam bam thank you mam. AND STOP TRYING TO COP A FEEL!!! Next time I'll roll my eyes before you turn your back!
Saturday I take a ballet class, do more mag drops, get my hair did, then grab a power disco nap to get ready for the 67th Street Loft party. The party was wonderful as usual, and Dajae really got the crowd going with her mini-set. I was alone that night and boy did it feel SO GOOD. No one to account to, no one to drive around or worry about driving home later, no drama, just ME MYSELF and I having a good old time.

Steve Hurley was in the crowd, Ron Carroll (our November coverboy) made a small appearance with Mona Lisa, and Craig Loftis (our October coverboy) came later to get a box of magazines from me so he can ship them to England for the Southport Weekender. I need to get my ass over to that event next time.
Still debating whether to throw a party in Miami for the Winter Music Conference.

Almost Over

CeCe Peniston, Ron Carroll and Mona Lisa @ The Dating Game |
On Wednesday I go to Linda Redd's bday party at the Dating Game, then end up at The Note. I should have just gone home, because I had a major moment of weakness that I ended up regretting. Thursday I check out my friends' new night at Four, and the music was simply amazing. We go to Zentra, then go back to Four so my girl Nicole could check this Asian boy-stealer girl's ass. After we go to a very bad afterhours, I grumpily insist on going home. I can't wait till this weekend is over, so that I can start my raw food detox month and rid myself of all the party poisons, bad men and evil people.

Bad Juju Car Fund
I went to court again today... had 2 court dates scheduled for 2 separate tickets... and guess what! I went on the wrong day!!! For both of them! You go girl! Luckily I was able to go ahead with one of my tickets the same day...I decided to fight the city on a "littering" charge (the ticket flew out my windshield and the retarded bicycle big-gut cops chased me down). I refused the plea bargain offer and insisted on a trial. I lost! $235 for a falling-off-my-car-ticket... you go girl!

When It Rains, It Pours
Thursday I get my cute little Ford economy rental car while my real car is in the shop. And after just a few hours or driving it, I leave it in the little legal parking spot in front of my condo. And more wonderful karma! It gets towed for no apparent reason. Yeah! So more calling around, shouting, stressing, cabbing and doling out loot.
Friday is the big Prophouse anniversary party sponsored by 5, and DJs Craig Loftis, Stoney and Greg Gray all spin wonderful sets to a room so packed that you could only move vertically. We had a cute little VIP table by the front, and even though me and my dancers were supposed to take the little platform stage, it was too crowded for us to even try. Andre Hatchett, Ojay and a bunch of my dancers came to celebrate with us. Afterwards we went to a loft party at Cermak to hear the final sets of Bryan Bai-ee and Gantman.

At the Prophouse party |
Saturday after a dinner and movie, I call the cops to help ME this time.
By Monday the mechanics fixing my car at Nortown mechanics are ripping me off blind, calling me up every 12 hours to report NEW damages or MORE new repairs that need to be made! I finally tell them what to do with their you-know-whats and I take my car back after a major fortune in repairs. I have spent all day sitting in government offices and court, and all I want to do is go home.
Not before I stop in and see my chiropractor, so he can put my spine back into place after a pinched nerve has made me walk crooked all week. When it rains, it pours.

Cursed Mondays
Mondays seem to be cursed. As me and my man are leaving Green Dolphin to meet up with some friends, the bad rainy weather continues. We're driving down Ashland nice and slow, and without warning my beautiful new Honda CR-V goes over a bad bump in the road. What goes on for the next 2 days is a series of multiple cab rides, rainy weather, mechanics that don't know what's wrong with the car and can't fix it, bogus miscellaneous expenses and shady towing companies. At the end of a long 2 days we get it to a somewhat decent repair shop. Then, surprise! It turns out my insurance company has no record of us renewing my insurance when I got my new car, and no amount of haggling and threatening will convince them otherwise. We have been paying them for years and Allstate are being complete assholes. So the cherry on top of my day is that I get to pay for over $1500 in car parts and repairs, all because of a phone call oversight.
So now I'm shopping around for cheap rental cars, because how the hell can I distribute my magazines without a car? It's times like these I wish I had a sugar daddy who would treat me. Because god knows I handle all my business, pay ALL my bills, and pay EVERYONE ELSE'S bills on top of that. How bad can it be to be a vacuous trophy wife once in a while?

Only Gay
DJ Doug is texting me from the End Up in San Francisco, which is an all Saturday thru Sunday dance club very similar to the Shelter in New York. I'm so jealous because it's Sunday/Monday at 4am and I'm still stuck finishing up articles for the November issue. I would so love to be in San Fran, away from everybody, away from Chicago, away from all my damn problems. He told me about Nicky Siano opening up a new club in New York on October 28th, but I have to cover too many parties down here. I want to move away for 2 months and not talk to anybody in this damn city!
Well except maybe for my gay friends...

Moochers, Flash and Breaking Shit
Thursday night I hit up Spice followed by Zentra for my hosting duties. What's great about it is I get numerous drink tickets... unfortunately all my friends know that now so there is a soup kitchen line in front of me made up of broke alcoholics. My man wanted some alone time with me, so despite us sitting in a faraway corner of the room, annoying and cloying people would come up to us, pull us apart, and start yapping cheerfully away. And me being the uber-personality-hostess queen, would smile, delight and front. If only they could read the cancer inside my mind.
Friday night I go to hear Grandmaster Flash at Zentra and was completely blown away. The place was beyond packed, and what was amazing was that everyone... black, white, asian, hip-hop, suburbanite, purist, househead, whatever....ALL loved him. He mixed in not only hip-hop but pop, r&b, house, 80's shit and rock. And did it well.

Grandmaster Flash |
Saturday night I am running around trying to hit up every house party and house night there is, ending up at a late night loft set. We stay up all through half of Sunday until our bodies can't take it no more. Monday night is the appliance breaking fight. I think every appliance in my apartment was thrown, smashed and pushed around. This can't be healthy.

Friday Update
After a complete meltdown the last 2 days, I devote Friday to me time: I take a yoga class after years of not, get the best massage of my life and don't answer any phone calls. I have been tempted to jump on a plane to New York for the weekend, but my finances won over my stress.
Later on I go to the 3 Degrees 7 year anniversary at Smart Bar and and had a great time. Saturday was the Generator and Smart Bar, Sunday was the Generator and Clybar, Monday was Boom Boom Room and Wednesday was the Cuatro, Dating Game and the Note.
***Oh and there is a new development as of the past 2 months or so: I used to mostly hear of men reading my blog based on the emails and conversations that I've had. Now there are 2 specific "women" (loosely used term) who are reading, analyzing and holding bookclub discussion meetings regarding my entries. They are looking for anything and everything to incriminate me because they are so consumed by hate and jealousy. I know who you are. First of all, spend your energy on better things than being jealous of me. Go on a diet. Exercise. Look in the mirror and enjoy the horror film. Don't hate me because I have things you don't have. Stop "telling on me" to people by the stuff you read. Shit, I make no apologies for what I write. This blog is open for everyone to read. I'm fabulous and you're not. Deal with it.
