5 Mag's DJ Series Contest Ends July 31st

This is the final call - there won't be another! July 31st, 2008 is the cut off date for submissions from Chicago-area DJs for 5 Magazine's DJ Series Contest, our search for the next great DJ talent. The winner will be featured in the October 2008 edition of the 5 Magazine DJ Series, with a full page write-up in the October issue and their mix pressed on limited quantities of CDs around town as well as on our website.

Briefly, here are the rules (and there are more details here). Submit your mix (any style - new school, old school, loungey or peak hour - whatever it is, as long as it's something you're proud of). Make sure the mix is no longer than 78 minutes so it can fit on a CD. You can upload it online and send the link to terry@5chicago.com, mail a CD to 5 Magazine, 100 E. Walton Ste. 30E, Chicago, IL 60611, or drop a copy off with Kevin Starke at KStarke Records at 1109 N. Western. Include your name and the best way to contact you. Submissions received after July 31st will not be considered - so if you haven't mailed it yet, make sure you hurry!

The mixes will be judged by a panel including 5 Magazine staff, Kevin Starke of Kstarke Records, and our DJ Series alumni (those who have confirmed their participation so far include Wayne Williams, Alan King, Gene Hunt, Freddie Bain, Andre Harris, Leonard Part Sixx, Elbert Phillips and Sean Smith). The winner of our DJ Series contest will be announced in September, so keep your ear to the ground.
