Shows, Clubs and Cabs

SHOWS:
The idea and name of my new dance show came to me one caffeinated moment at Starbucks, and I can now begin the creative process in earnest. Today I watch a fantastic off-broadway show from Korea called "Jump." A martial arts comedy with tons of death-defying gymnastic stunts, dazzling tricks and some of the funniest slapstick I've seen in a long time, this show alone made my trip here worthwhile!

CLUBS:
Tuesday I check out Eman's night at Sapphire, Friday I hear Tony Humphries at the Sullivan Room then go to a party called Together in Spirit at a dance studio in Chinatown. 10am Sunday morning after lots of rest and a good brunch I head to the latter part of Shelter and the party was still going strong from the night before. I also go to see Quentin Harris at Asseteria, a long running Sunday night party with an appropriate name.

*p.s. I don't care how many times I have to say it, but I CAN'T STAND electro-House and tech-House! Blechh!!! And people are really starting to play it here. I'm sorry, this is obviously just my opinion. I like straight up, non hyphenated House. Give me vocals, SOUL, depth. I don't want to feel like a spaceship just landed.

CABDRIVERS SUCK
New York's cabs all have mini-tvs installed by the back seat now, so you can watch a fixed amount of news and information channels. At the end of your ride, you can pay with a credit card using the touch screen and the tips are calculated for you. As wonderful as this new system is, the cab drivers will try to bully you to pay with cash. One jerkoff cabbie and I got into a serious yelling match, because after the 25% tip I gave he told me to hurry up and get out of his cab! Wha? Wrong move on his part! (I won't say what I did just in case my actions will be used against me...suffice it to say the asswipe had to get out of his precious cab.)
