+ Blog: Thriller Walk in Wicker Park... The Zombies Take Over Damen!
Saturday evening was the Michael Jackson Thriller Walk, where as a result of a small just-for-fun event that my girl and some of her friends thought up, soon escalated into a full-scale 1000+ person event that had the media all over it. The idea was to dress as a zombie and do the Thriller dance all around Wicker Park as part of a parade. As you can see by the video, regular folks started joining in and outnumbering the zombies, until it looked like the end of a cheesy dance movie with everyone clapping and cheering. It was quite endearing to watch and even funnier to see the reactions of the people on the street.

I found my namesake watering hole while following the zombies :)

Later that night we go over to the Congress Theater to catch Tortured Soul and the UK's Jamie Lidell. While the former are always a sure crowd-pleaser, I wasn't quite ready for Jamie's very unique stage-show. It was basically him all by himself with a sampler/sequencer/microphone creating all kinds of music and sounds and weirdness. He has a beautiful voice and lots of energy onstage, you can tell he loves what he's doing. But all of that wailing and warbling just wasn't lifting my skirt.

+ Blog: My Week So Far

Real House Music Sundays @ Betty's

Susan the awesome (but worried) Sunday bartender @ Betty's getting advice from bad boy Juanito about her next day traffic court hearing. The cop didn't show.

Tuesday night I got to host the live latin House band Madd Soul for their show at Fuel in Wicker Park. They were very well received!

Later Tuesday night at 2:30am I head over to Ojay's birthday party as part of the 2nd shift (meaning me.) Almost everyone had left save for maybe 10 of us, and we danced till probably 7 in the morning! In the pic is Ojay, Andre Hatchett, Dodi and Linda Redd.

Ojay's Birthday Party

Wednesday night I was in a fashion show at The Victor Hotel, and like all fashion shows it was quite a fiasco leading up to it. Afterwards I head out to Shrine.

Theo Parrish, Ron Trent + Leonard Part Sixx @ Shrine

Me with Phil Hooton from the UK, Terry Hunter + Bruce Ivery @ Shrine

+ Blog: Disco Party, Betty's, Then The Old School Chosen Few Picnic
Fun, fun fun! Wednesday night was our "DANCE FEVER! A DISCO DANCE PARTY!" at Smart Bar, complete with a disco-dance contest whereby no matter how many times I told them to "Dance disco"...we got everything but. Still a great great time with lots of people dressed up and great music!

Dance Fever @ Smart Bar

Me with Doug Brandt, Rees Urban and Steve "Miggedy" Maestro

Thursday night was our weekly party at Betty's with guest Chosen Few DJ Wayne Williams, and we had the Les Nubians grace us with a surprise visit :)

And finally, staying up all night Friday after multiple club runs at Double Door, Cuatro and Shrine....myself, Rees and Terry loaded my beautiful new (sleeps 9 people) house/tent, grill, magazines, food, drinks and all kinds of other picnic-like shit into the car and drove at 4:30am in a MONSOON all the way to the southside. We get there and there are about 30 other cars all waiting for the park to open, praying that the rain will stop. It does. We set up our tents in primo locations, wait, and the beautiful sun comes out to bake us all for the next 15 hours. Yes kids, we were there for over 15 hours! It was a fun time, lots more space and great music! (I thought I was a talkative MC....boy....lemme tell you about the one they got...)

Once we get home around 10pm, we are roasted, toasted and SLEEEEEEEEEEP............
