For close to fourteen years, Dubtribe Soundsystem carried a carnival of wild, live percussion through every city of relevance. At the time, few fans of electronic music had seen a genuine "live performance" of this sort, and even two decades after Dubtribe formed it's still not very common.

As Dubtribe founding member Sunshine Jones told 5 Mag in an interview three years ago:

Dubtribe was born as a party. We didn't have anywhere to play, so we would set up our equipment in the front room of a flat I lived in on Bryant Street and have a party. We tried to DJ, but didn't know how really. We ended up just making electronic music all night. Drummers came and sat in, and the idea was born out of the party.

After several years hiatus, Sunshine has reunited with Moonbeam for a "Dubtribe Revival" that's appeared in several cities throughout the US. Kristopher Muse has them together in Chicago with a cast of a half-dozen DJs and supposedly more TBA. [ - Terry Matthew/April 2011 - ]
