5 Magazine DJ Series presents YOU!

The 5 Magazine DJ Series - our celebration of DJ culture and the people who power House Music today - will return next month with Volume 16 and a mix from and profile of legendary House DJ and producer Gene Hunt, with his thoughts on dancefloor and turntable philosophy.
But this month, we're taking a break to announce our city-wide search for the next great DJ talent. Whether you've played for an audience of thousands or an audience of one, we're inviting you to participate in 5 Magazine's DJ Series Search, a contest opening June 1st and concluding July 31, 2008.
The winner will be the star of our October 2008 5 Magazine DJ Series, with their picture and profile printed in this space and their mix featured on our website and in limited quantities of CDs distributed at clubs, lounges and boutiques around town.
Here's how it works:
1. Send us your mix. We're not going to tell you what to play - the only limitation is that it shouldn't track longer than 78 minutes so it can fit on a CD. Whether it's new school funk or old school chill-out tunes - just record something that you're proud of. You can upload it online and send the link to terry@5chicago.com, or mail a CD to:

2. The mixes will be judged by a blue ribbon panel including 5 Magazine staff, Kevin Starke (owner of KStarke Records at 1109 N. Western Ave) and past mixers profiled in our DJ Series. The winner will be announced in a future issue.
Early entry is strongly encouraged, so don't sleep on this!
