Socializin' at Moonshine

The two promoters and residents at the new monthly event The Social (every 4th Tuesday at Moonshine, 1824 W. Division, 10pm-2am) met in a funny kind of way: Aaron Dae (left, top) kept buying Greg Norwood's records.
"I'd go into Gramaphone and I kept finding these great records with a Kool-Aid sticker on them," Aaron remembers. "Finally, one day Greg was working there and I asked, 'Hey, what does this mean?' Greg said, 'The ones with the stickers are my records!'"
Both had similar musical tastes that they hope to bring to The Social. "It seems that most nights are either soulful and deep or 'clubby,'" Aaron says. "There's no in-between style. We want to bring something that's soulful and deep but keeps chugging and keeps the energy level high. People may not be House Music fans, even, but we're trying to cross boundaries with The Social."
The April 24th edition of The Social is also the launch party for Aaron's new label, Dae Deep, a sublabel of Dae Records, focusing on the more soulful side of House Music. Aaron will be celebrating the release of Dae Deep's first single, "30 Days" by RaShaan Houston with a live performance by RaShaan as well as a set by Mark Grant, who contributed one of the remixes to the single. Don't sleep on this one.
