Sometimes, DJs that have been on the scene for awhile sneak up on you. Whether you've slept on them or they really start to step up their game, you suddenly see this guy or girl everywhere, and you can't remember the last time you heard them play a bad set.

This is our definition for something undefinable: our Breakthrough DJ of the Year. And our choice is DJ FLX.
While holding down his Saturday residency at Cuatro, FLX played probably in excess of 100 gigs in 2009, in every part of the city and before every type of crowd. He played at the Puerto Rican Festival and an electrifying set as one of the special guests at the Chosen Few Picnic.
Other DJs receiving consideration include Jamie 3:26, David Sabat, Bryan Jones, Gant Garrard & Andre Harris.
