Dancetracks NYC Closes

On Friday, November 30th, one of the most influential and renowned bastions of music enterprise, Dancetracks of New York City, officially closed its doors Although it carried everything from House, Techno, Trance, Progressive, Funk and Hip-Hop, it was its collection of Deep House tracks and Classics that really set it apart. It was the store for House music in New York City.
As with many stores before it, they found it financially difficult to sustain a vinyl business. With pressing plants continuously closing, labels not pressing vinyl and traditional wholesalers offering records at cheap prices, the store finally called it quits.
Stefan Prescott, who was convinced seventeen years ago by Joaquin Clausell to open Dancetracks, states, "I wish all the record stores that are left all the best and hope that the closing of Dancetracks will illustrate how important it is to support, not just vinyl stores but every independent 'Mom and Pop' music store."
