01Jan2011

I'm not a huge fan of year end "best of" lists (here's the worst kept secret in the trade: it's a lazy way for writers to recycle old content without doing any real work). But I thought it was interesting to go over the stats of our New Mix Monday sets and share with you what our readers thought - by the numbers - were the best of 2010.

(A quick note about the methodology: I added up the total downloads and divided them by the number of days the mix has been live to come up with this list. The numbers on a few of them were incredibly close, so rather than lop it off at a Top 10, I made it a somewhat awkward "Top 13". Still, some mixes inexplicably catch on a few months or weeks after they're posted, and momentary bumps in traffic can also skew things, so this list is prejudicial against the most recent sets. And this ranking can't account for downloads of mixes which weird European forums have downloaded and re-uploaded on megaupload or rapidshare for whatever reason - no way to count those, I'm afraid.)
