House Events End at Cuatro

Twenty-thirty South Wabash has been the setting for some of the most dynamic and vivid memories I've had in the last year, but it appears that the live music and House Music events at Cuatro have come to an end.
Until mid-June, Cuatro had been the unlikely host to some of the hottest acts in the city, hosting both eclectic local acts as well as out-of-town artists. A brief list of the performers who passed through the restaurant/lounge includes Mark Grant, Paul Johnson, Madd Soul, FLX, the Vick Lavender Ensemble, Wunmi and many more. The atmosphere at Cuatro every Saturday was positively electric, oft-imitated but never duplicated anywhere else. The crowd was likewise unique, made up of equal parts young and older; male and female; black, white, Hispanic and Asian.
However, after a warning by local officials (and only by local officials: a search of city records indicates zero noise or nuisance complaints regarding the spot), the owner made the agonizing decision to turn the music down and focus on the restaurant, which remains open. The events at Cuatro will be sorely missed, both in the revitalized neighborhood as well as in the House Music scene. Our condolences and gratitude go out to everyone involved over the last year-plus in daring to try something different, and, for awhile at least, succeeding.
