Richard Earnshaw (facebook, discogs, myspace) has been responsible for some of the prime dancefloor movers of the last decade. His original productions have been listed under a number of guises and with a number of partners, and his remixes have made him one of the most in-demand console jockeys in the business.

As a web exclusive from our interview with Richard Earnshaw in our May 2010 issue, we present this informal rap session about five tracks he's been involved with as a remixer, producer or co-producer.

People Are People:
(Richard Earnshaw / Soulfuric Deep)

Earnshaw: This started life as two totally different tracks: one with the vocal on, and another with the guitar. I remember it being a total nightmare because they were in different keys and tempos, so I had to combine the two which took forever in those days. Ableton and the like didn't exist! It's a special track for me though as it was the start of an association with Soulfuic and was the foundation of everything that I have done so far.

Diamond Life:
(Louie Vega & Jay 'Sinister' Sealée starring Julie McKnight [Richard Earnshaw Remix] / Bargrooves / Yoshitoshi)

Earnshaw: The story of "Diamond Life" is a varied one. I initially did it as a handout to some of my mates and peers at the 2003 Winter Music Conference. What started out as a "tool" for my friends, eventually got bootlegged (twice I think) and then signed to Yoshitoshi and then Defected. It's always been a firm favourite in my sets and still play it now! The best thing is that there's a reprise and a dub which no one other than myself has!

Bring Me To Your Life
(One51 featuring Heidi Vogel / One51 Recordings)

Earnshaw: This was the second track me and Dan put together after our first ever One51 release, "Si Weka" ended up on Soulfuric Deep. So "Bring Me To Your Life" ended up being the debut release on our One51 label. Always loved the song, and it still gets played all over the place. We've just recorded some new live drums for a 2010 update which will be dropping over the summer.

Feel Love:
(Richard Earnshaw / Duffnote)

Earnshaw: It was intended to be a 3rd track for Soulfuric but ended up being on Duffnote. As one of our best sellers, it helped place our Duffnote label as a real contender within the scene.

The Dream:
(Fusion Groove Orchestra / Curious)

Earnshaw: This was Fusion Groove OrchestraÊand was the first track we did with Simon Green on lead. So this is another special moment which started off a great working relationship. Simon is the front man for our Little Big Band project so expect to see/hear much of him in the coming months!
