Two Peavey Mixers

Peavey PV 6 Compact Mixer
The best maker of amps, Peavey, recently released two mixers for studio use, one on the high end and one on the low. Let's start with this one. You really can't beat this price: I looked around, and for a compact mixer this is ridiculous. The PV 6 does what you expect it to do: it's lightweight and thus mobile, making it ideal for recording on-the-fly demos and - this is what many people forget about when dealing with mobile audio products - live performances. It records on 4 channels with quality sound. Obviously, you're not going to record a symphony orchestra with a 4 channel mixer, but it's not meant for that. If you're starting to get involved in music or have a use for a mobile mixer, I wouldn't recommend anything else.

Peavey Rotomix DJ Mixer
On the high end of Peavey's latest releases is the Rotomix, an impressive tool for DJs and home studios. The Rotomix has a wide array of features and gives considerable bang for the buck. It's a full 6 channel device with turntable/headphone, balanced line and mic inputs. For each zone there are triple stereo outputs (one balanced and the other two unbalanced) and a three band EQ and frequency kill on each channel. If all of this is Greek to you, you probably want to get the PV 6, but if it has some meaning you definitely want to check this thing out. One of the neat features here is that each of the 6 channels has its own circuit board. What this means is that there is almost zero electrical interference between channels, so you can produce or mix solid, recording-quality material on this beast.
