M-Audio Trigger Finger
by Chris Hafner | Published December 2007 | In the Mix Archives
We've concentrated quite a bit on DJ equipment here, and little about machines for the at-home studio. The M-Audio Trigger Finger is a sleek and inexpensive drum machine for both programming and performing, and is compatible with Reason, Live, and a number of other music software applications. The sixteen pads are velocity-sensitive, which means it responds with a drum hit equal in force to the pressure you apply. That makes it very handy for live performance as well as home studio work. There are only 16 pre-sets included, but the included Enigma software enables you to create your own, and the knobs and faders give complete control over volume, pan, pitch and some digital effects. You can also use the Trigger Finger as a kind of launch pad for pre-programmed loops and effects in a live show.
