DJ Gomi featuring Byron Stingily :: "Hot Nights"
Review by Chain | Published June 2007 | Review Archives
This scorching track came out on West End in late 2006, but seems to be taking awhile to catch on in Chicago. That's a travesty and you can help make up for it by getting this record and playing the hell out of it for the next six months. "Gomi's Original Vocal Mix" features a wild trumpet peel over the opening "I'm missin' you/I need you/I want you" vocal. The trumpet and Byron's voice are almost in perfect pitch - it reminds me (though obviously in a very different way) of how Louie Armstrong patterned his bass singing voice after his bellowing trumpet. There's a disco tempo that takes over here in the chorus with a whole horn section joining in. Energetic and with one of the best male vocalists in the history of House Music behind the mic - how can you go wrong?
Kenny Dope's mix is awesome - spectacular sound, huge horns that just kill. The K-Dope Beats mix drop the vocal out.
