+ Dennis Ferrer: The World As I See It LP
:: King Street
A solid debut long-player from New York's Dennis Ferrer. If you look through DJ charts with any regularity, you'll see Dennis' name all over them from his remixes, the most notable of which was probably his edit of Barbara Tucker's "Most Precious Love". On his first full-length CD, Dennis pushes the envelope. "Church Lady" leads off the disc and is among my favorite tracks - it really encapsulates a soulful sound that I find missing from a lot of new music today. Other tracks here that that caught my fancy are "Transitions" and "Change the World". This would be a career-maker if Dennis weren't already well-known. As it is, a couple of these get the "instant classic label. Highly recommended.
