If you think the offices of 5 Magazine are just swamped with promo singles every month, you couldn't be more wrong. Many labels refuse to send promo singles to reviewers these days in a mistaken attempt to squash file sharing. Some labels send nothing but compilations, despite the fact that we hardly ever review them. But sometimes a single's so good you've got to go out and get it on your own, and there was no waiting around on the postman for the remixes of Fred Everything's "Here I Am", with vocals by Lisa Shaw.
The Lazy Days Remix is choice, choice stuff: somewhere between Diz and David Morales, with exquisitely bright keys and a tight groove. The Lazy Days Dub is a bit more of a headtrip with busy effects in some ways drowning out Lisa Shaw's understated vocal. The Shur-ikan Dreamy Dub is also solid, but neither the Dreamy or the Vocal mix (which veers into a bit more of a commercial sound) can touch the Lazy Days Remix. This is a great track, and with the OM publicity machine behind it, most people will hopefully get a chance to experience it.
