Ah, welcome back to the weird and wacky world of Green Velvet - I think he missed you! It's been awhile since I've heard something that tickled that same funny bone as some of the classic Green Velvet tracks - say what you want but the appeal of "Flash" to me wasn't that breakdown-inducing drum machine apocalypse but the funny and just fun vocal. GV's remix of Northern Ireland trio Japanese Popstars' "Let Go" on Virgin is much the same, like a trombone player caught in a comic/cosmic loop or an elephant with the sniffles or a 303 with the giggles or... you get the point.
The original track leans heavily on crazed industro-disco-pop mavens My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult (in particular A Daisy Chain 4 Satan) maybe mixed with a bit of Limelight-inspired mass hysteria and '90s classic Relief weirdness.
The video doesn't feature the Green Velvet remix in question, but this is still a hell of a headtrip:
Where Can I Find it?
Available at iTunes and at beatport. Hilariously, the video embedded on their own website has been "blocked in your country on copyright grounds", so it looks like there's no preview. Gotta love the record industry.
