Everyone tells me that Kate Simko is a very nice person, so I have no idea how she can make such haunting and sometimes outright demonic bass lines. The title track of Sit Back, a collaboration between Kate, Anthony Collins and Brothers Vibe, has such a deep bass that I thought I'd pop my eardrums like some square in a Twisted Sister video. It's nearly sub-audible in parts, and snaking around under cover of flaring high-hat jack artillery - it's a brilliant if mind-warping combination. The voiceover is a bit reminiscent of Spencer Kincy's "How Can I Chill?" off the Imagine-A-Nation LP in that dreamy, disoriented sort of manner. (Of course, Spencer isn't the only one who did this. He just happened to do it best.) "Run & Tell" is a more conventional instrumental Deep House track with some playful claps, stripped down FX and a bouncy bass to keep things lively.
With just two tracks, this is pretty short but frankly most EPs these days are just a couple of decent tracks with some remix filler anyway, so Guy Gerber's Supplement is just cutting to the chase here.
