Full disclosure: I'm a sucker for boom-boomity bass and a vocal here and there that declares "funky" in any way, shape, or form. So, that means the single mix of "We're All Funky" is basically perfect; not like "stand-out, save-the-House-world-forever" perfect, but more like "subtle and totally dependable perfect" in that if you bring this one along everyone will be happy. (And if they're not, then they are whack.) The original "Boom Boom Bye" plus its two remixes are definitely lovely. They all have a lot going on all at once so you won't get bored, like quick cuts of a guy's exclamation or a "be-doop," all behind a solidly fun and funky beat. The Leo Portela Remix is funkier and bouncier. The horn stabs beef up the original "Boom Boom Bye." The Jazzy Eyewear Remix offers a slice of steel-drum-ish-ness at the start. It takes you on a journey that's more blended than the Leo Portela Remix and it evokes an early-evening Miami sunset with live trumpeters whose sound is zipping in and about as the sun sets.
