+ Michael Watford + Jamie Lewis: "Michael's Prayer"
:: Purple Music
I don't know if it's technology or nostalgia, but this is the fourth or fifth re-recording of a classic track I've come across this month. The original cut was an accapella by Michael which was re-recorded and put to music by Purple Music's Jamie Lewis. It might sound jarring to some, but this track has a nice, tight groove and Michael's vocals are as powerful and as penetrating forever. The main cut really has the most energy; the dub cut seems a bit extraneous, and I don't see much to do with the instrumental cut at all. But to each his own; the good thing about the digital age is that variations on a theme like this that might appeal to a select few can still get a wide release.
