Musaria ft Saturna: Moment (Remixes)

San Francisco based Headset Recordings serves up two lush remixes of "Moment" by Musaria feat. Saturna. This was a huge release for them last year that got a lot of love in South Africa, not to mention getting the midas touch of Atjazz. This time Musaria returns with his Cabin in Paris remix and Dave Barker brings his own flavor to it. Who knew two boys from down south could bring such a rich, deep sound?

Dave Barker's remix is my pick of the two because it's more dancefloor ready and I'm gaga for the vocal work and the filters he put them through. The whole track is just very rich from start to finish - the keys, the bells, the atmospherics, the slow builds that peak and dip back down. It hits on all cylinders and I wouldn't think twice about dropping this at any number of outdoor summer parties that are happening down here in Texas.

I wasn't aware there were cabins in Paris, but I'm glad Musaria's remix opened my mind to the possibility! The most endearing quality to me about Moment is the very easygoing, uplifting nature of the song itself. This remix takes it more of an eerie and trippy direction, but the original melody being present still conveys that easygoing feeling. Dave's remix may be more dancefloor ready but this take is VERY interesting and not one I would skip through on the iPod as it wraps up.

Moment is one of those songs that bring me back to the days when electronic artists were putting out full length CDs instead of cranking out single after single; the days when I would tape episodes of MTV's Amp. I'll admit I didn't pay as close attention on first listen because I couldn't quickly see it fitting into my record box. Don't make the same mistake I did and just kick back with the original, give it your full attention and I have no doubt it'll take you back too.
