:: Salted Music
You are going to want these four tracks from Salted, aptly described in promo material as "fun and funky... as well as classic." They're for sure fun, but also slick, perfectly funky, and totally danceable for a club or party that appreciates real House. This EP made it to the top of the heap this month because all the vocal snippets are welcomed (not annoying or too long) and add just enough to make it interesting. It's a tie for my top tracks between these two of the four:
"The Underground": Here's what sucked me in: cheers of "yayyyyy" mixed between a nice funky baseline and some chillin' high-pitched stabs, plus any track that mentions an "underground" party is peachy keen with me. It has an old-school vibe, like I could totally see this in the soundtrack for a movie about a 1980s dance crew.
"Get On Up": This track is carried by the exultation to "get on up" - which is what you'll do if you're paying attention at all, and then, the keys on the early break pull you in, using the chorus of voices to get you to the end.
Normally when I choose my "fav" tracks off an EP, it kind of means I don't like the other tracks all that much. This is not the case here! "88 Keys to Love" (featured on Miguel Migs' mix Get Salted Vol. 2) and "Back to the Future (Luvbug Prime Time Rub)" will make you move and groove - even if you're just on the kitchen linoleum. This EP is a bargain - there's not one track you wouldn't play in a fine old-school House night!
