When you get down to it - when you look at how much money these things cost vs. a virtually priceless alternative - very few tracks that make up the audioglut of each month's hundreds and thousands of releases truly deserve to be pressed on vinyl. This is one of them. Even if your taste isn't pegged to the soulful side of the cosmos, "On the Other Side" is so well produced and with such breathtaking vocals that to deny it a spot in your crate (and for once we can use that term literally) is a crime against art. A little strong? Maybe, but you don't have to be genius to realize that this one is a Deep House anthem for 2010. Emory's vocal is Vandrossian: right up there with the ghosts of Motown, confident and as smooth as anything I've heard in a new release in quite some time. With the digital release of this cut (the vinyl has been out for a couple of months by this point), several new remixes were added. All hesitate and show a certain common denominator of respect to the shimmering hooks of the original. Most of the remixers here are unknown to me; I've got to say that Souldynamic's own edits are good'nuff.
