+ South Of Roosevelt: Hey There, Hi There, Ho There EP
:: Juiced Music
Chicago's own new jacks South Of Roosevelt really deliver on their latest release from Dallas, TX's Juiced Music. "Take the Bomb" is a nice'n'jazzy swing jam with a great little piano ditty hook and a goofy dude vocal sample letting you know that "this is the bomb". "Shuffle" kicks things up a notch, being a pure energy driven saxophone jam courtesy of the late Jaysun Middle. It's moving bassline and beats are the perfect backdrop for a sax man to rip it proper. Next up is my favorite cut of the release, "Guns In The House". This is the perfect combination of smooth and jackin' at the same time, which is complimentary to that Inland Knights sound that we know and love so much. It incorporates a slapping bass, smooth jazzy chords stabs, and a sax lick that takes it to the tip of the top. To round out the release is "So Fine", which is a sample-based funk jam reminiscent of the stylings of Scrubfish & Laurence.

Overall, I give this release two thumbs up, one record backspin, and a jumpkick to the face. If you don't understand this rating system, then try doing all three of those actions in a row and see how you feel afterwards.
