Santorini: Scirocco EP

The Flame Recordings

/

Santorini shows us that less is more on the Scirocco EP out on Italy's The Flame Recordings. All three tracks will put you in a hypnotic groovy state of mind. You cannot deny the head nod factor on tracks like these.

"Irene's Groove" really jumped out at me. This is the kind of track that I don't even want to try to classify - I just want to let it be and appreciate it for its simplicity. The cymbals are infectious. You've got old school-style snare hits and a Detroit style key stab that builds some really nice energy. This track will keep you on your toes and surprise you from measure to measure.

"Summer on Salento" gives a more tribal organic feel from the core drums and bass. It's got serious thump to it, but still keeps it nice and cool with the jazzy piano.

The title track Scirocco makes me think of a dark small club with a big boomin' system and people vibing out of their minds to it. This song is so deep tech it's got that almost ominous type of feel to it, you know? It's mostly in the bass and keys but the crisp hi hats and claps add that extra punch.

This entire EP is memorable to me. Definitely check it out if you want a little extra spice to surprise your audience with.
