Any record with a Johnny Depp sample is okay with me, especially when it's from Blow - one of my all time favorite movies. To sample Fear and Loathing for an electronic music track just seems so...easy. That's not to say I don't like a producer who keeps it simple though. Concerns is deep tech that's not overly complicated and uses very effective House percussion and elements. A harder edge beat than just Deep House, a dark brooding bass line, short spacey key stabs, Johnny Depp... you get the picture. I'm becoming a big fan of Ric McClelland, better known as Scope.
The Audio Soul Project remix is a totally different vibe but I LOVE it! It's a jazzier head-nodding type of deep. I get flashes back to the first time I heard Metro Area when I listen to this. Nice keys, slick guitar riffs, and the horns - gotta have the horns man! This one hovers around the 124 BPM range and just has a nice lounge type of vibe.
Seven Music is McClelland's label so keep an eye out as this is only their 3rd release!
