Scott Diaz: Press Play EP

This is truly the best EP I came across this month - fresh, funky, and it makes my ass move. All three of UK-based Diaz's tracks have the new, jackin' feel - this ain't no Deep House, peeps, and it's just what your dancefloor needs! Another thing I like? The intros and outros are totally mixable yet also sweet treats for the ears - no boring, lame-ass beginnings and endings.

"Alicia's Groove" is the most low-key of the trio, although a more accurate way to describe it is bouncy and groovy. The short, choppy vocal effects are just enough to keep ears interested and the vibe jackin'. "Press Play" has a funky-funkity-funk bassline with twinkly chords liberally sprinkled over the top, kind of like rainbow sprinkles on an already awesome ice cream cone. There are two crafty vocal lines repeated here and there; my favorite, "keep it movin' babe, gotta keep it movin' babe" is sweeeet and so fast that you might miss if it you're not careful. Include this tune in your rotation and your dancers will never, ever get flabby grandma arms - they'll be too busy shakin' it! The vocals in "Turn the Lights Down" play a bigger part than in the other tracks. You'll be singing the catchiest line, "turn the lights down baby, oooh, turn the lights down," in your sleep. The hint of electro morsels throughout is perfect - this one is still very much a thumping, bass-bumpin', sexy house track.

I'm not sure how I've missed Scott Diaz in the scene so far, but basically, you'd be crazy not to play any and all of these tracks!
