+ Tamara Wellons: "Oh Well" (Bah Sonik Remix)
:: Ocha Records
Have you every heard a song and for some reason you cannot get it out of your head? You may have purchased a few other records at the same time, but this one song outshines the others. Newcomer Tamara Wellon's song "Oh Well" does this for me big time. This is the first single off her soon-to-be-released album. This album will have productions from Osunlade, Carlos Mena and others. Ms Wellon was discovered by Osunlade at the Winter Music Conference one year when he received a demo from her. The original version of "Oh Well" was produced by label boss Carlos Mena. There is also a remix by Chicago's Abicah Soul and Bah Sonik.

The mix I recommend is the Bah Sonik remix produced by Filsonik and Julian Bendall from Bah Samba. The mood and feeling of this version is deep. You have the percussion filled with congas, a smooth piano and swirling keyboard parts. The thing that grabs you the most is Ms Wellon's vocals. The lyrics here talk about a woman finding out that the single life that she once wanted is not what she wants at this time. The delivery and the style here is original and, in my opinion, destined to be a classic. This is late night Deep House at it's best.
