Todd Terry :: "Sunday Morning"
>>Tony Records

"Sunday Morning" is a testament to nightlife culture around the globe. Thanks to the fabulous remix talents of Sean McCabe, Kenny Dope and of course Todd Terry himself, there's a mix for EVERYONE on this project. And although good House Music is timeless, I gotta revert back to the early '90s when Zanzibar, Shelter, Sound Factory Bar, and even the Red Zone nightclubs dominated the New York/New Jersey House scene. I'm talkin' about when House Music didn't have "sub-divisions" like Trance, Dub, Techno, Grunge, D&B, etc. (no disrespect intended). But we all know that House music is about a feeling - expect nothing short of that with "Sunday Morning".

With the Sean McCabe mixes, the lifeline is a pounding 4-on-the-floor rhythm, interlaced with Hugh Masekela/Gil Scott Herron-ish vocals that rise along with the intensity of the track. And since we're talkin' retro House days, listen for the "soul claps", tambourines, and organ stabs... Classic!

Todd Terry keeps it traditional on his Original Mix - sixty seconds into the groove, you KNOW it's a Todd Terry track! But on Tee's Sunday Dub, Todd reaches into his global bag of trix and pulls out an instrumental dub mix that takes you even further back into time, yet futuristically European... All the while maintaining that Todd Terry signature sound... Heritage!

Kenny Dope doesn't beat around the bush; he gets right into it with his signature Tribal drums that rock clubs from Miami to Berlin. Keeping it simple: Kenny retains the original soulful vocals, while lacing the groove with that award-winning Masters at Work formula that never lets you down... Bravo!!
