This month I am talking about a nice musical adventure of Japanese waveforms via a record label from Detroit. Yasuo Sato is relatively new at releasing music, but nevertheless he presents a well rounded sound for his first vinyl release called The Hikari EP on Aesthetic Audio. This four track project offers several different feels through Sato's arranging abilities and his smashing of musical textures, which are full of sonically rich sounds that bump through the speakers and definitely do the nasty to your eardrums.
We begin the adventure with a nice slower tune called "Spacelight"; swirling melodies and harmonies appear as the beat builds up and up to a nice groove. "Gammawave" is next as the toms strike and synth sounds move to introduce a melody line that sneaks up on you. "Mirage of Night Sky" starts the b side on the uptempo tip with an aggressive chord motion and bass line as, suddenly, some pads arrive, completing the sonic texture that slowly breakdown just to build back up again. "Stringent Jade Stone" ends this release with its nice percussion and deep chord progression; later a bass line appears to complement the chords and then a melody plus pads appear and stroll through the rest of the arrangement like a dreamy landscape. This release is well worth checking because of the fresh take on House Music presented in these waveforms; which is something I have come to expect from Aesthetic Audio releases.
