+ New Mix Monday: Andre Hatchett + Rees Urban

Welcome back to 5 Magazine's New Mix Monday, our signature mix series featuring new mixes from the world's greatest House Music DJs and Chicago's up and coming talent. This week we're featuring the first audio edition of a mix CD put out by Chicago legend Andre Hatchett and Rees Urban.

Andre Hatchett was (and still is, in some circles) known as the "baby" of the Chosen Few DJs, a legendary crew of DJs formed by Wayne Williams that began DJing in the late 1970s at some of the earliest Chicago House Music venues. In the three decades since then, he's DJ'd almost continuously. These days you can find him headlining on Thursday nights at Cuatro (2030 S. Wabash) and at guest spots almost every night around town.

Rees Urban is a 5 Magazine contributing editor and Chicago-based House and Techno producer, co-founder of Bunchlox Music and sole founder of the Jackinthebox and Public Housing imprints. He holds down the residency Urban's House at Betty's Blue Star Lounge (1600 W. Grand), also on Thursday nights.

This mix was made as a special promo giveaway at Urban's House.

You can get in touch with Rees at myspace.com/reesurban.

And for more mixes, radio shows, podcasts from the greatest House Music DJs on the planet, check out past episodes of New Mix Monday, the 5 Magazine Radio Show and everything in one place at our audio archives page.
