Welcome to this week's edition of New Mix Monday, 5 Magazine's signature DJ mix series. This Monday, we're featuring a "classic mix" by Joe Smooth.

Joe Smooth became a House Music legend with his late 1980s deep house tracks "They Want to Be Free", "I Try" and, most of all, "Promised Land". In addition to several full-length albums, Joe's studio work can be heard on a great number of tracks from the era, as he engineered or produced many of the early House classics. He can be heard at selective events throughout Chicago.
