Large Music

+ Description: The brainchild of Jeff Craven, Large was formed in December 1992 and could at one time boast of being "the longest established House record label in Chicago outside of Trax." With Trax now dormant except as a licensing bank for samples, this probably makes Large Music the longest continuously running label. Artists include Roy Davis Jr., Mark Grant, Kerri Chandler, Chuck Love, Andre Harris, Jask, Steal Vybe, Halo, 95 North, and Scott Wozniak. Several of Large's early landmark releases were put out by DJ Lil John (aka John Coleman), the former resident at Red Dog and currently the DJ on WGCI's hip-hop "5 O'Clock Mixtape" program, including 1993's The Pina Colada EP and "Time for Change" and "I'm Leaving You" by Ulysses. Today the label is closely identified with the Get Large mix CD, which has been mixed by the likes of Roy Davis, Jr, Mark Grant, Jask and Julius Paap.
