There has been no better ambassador for Ghetto House than DJ Deeon. From the Southside of Chicago, Deeon began slinging mixtapes and playing sets at house parties in the projects. Ghetto House really reached the rest of the world primarily through post-1993 releases on Chicago's Dance Mania; the prolific producer's noteworthy releases included "Akceler 8" and "Da Bomb" among others. Since the original Dance Mania's demise, he's worked with a wide variety of US independent and European labels, including Databass and GTI Recordings.
In this video, Deeon talks about being inspired by Kraftwerk, the origins of Ghetto House and going overseas for the first time.
Updated: Deeon has added another track for us to give away - "Joyful".
